RE: Mid-Kentucky Older Adult Ministry Work Group

The Presbytery’s Older Adult Work Group is again planning for an Older Adult Recognition Day for the April 2010 presbytery meeting. This event recognizes the contributions of older adults in our congregations, the presbytery and the surrounding communities.

The Work Group needs your Session’s help in determining the recipients of this recognition.  The criteria for selection:

 1.              Membership in a Mid-Kentucky congregation or an honorably retired minister member of the presbytery,

2.              70+ years old,

3.              Active in the life of his/her congregation, the presbytery, or in the larger community through charitable and/or civic work.

Your Session is asked to select one person in your congregation that you believe fits these criteria.  Please complete the attached form and send it along with a digital picture or photo of the person to:  OAM Work Group, Mid-Kentucky Presbytery, 425 S. 2nd Street, Louisville, KY 40202 by March 19, 2010.

Thank you for your assistance and prompt reply.

 Sincerely,
 Rev. Hattie Wagner
Older Adult Representative of Mid-Kentucky Presbytery

To Mid-Kentucky Presbyterians – Dear Friends,

In the past when we have had a Friday evening Special Presbytery meeting, followed by a Saturday day Stated Presbytery meeting, (and when both of these meetings were being held in the greater Louisville area) we sent out the word to the Presbytery regarding overnight accommodations.

Some good and faithful Presbyterians wanting to come to both meetings, from outside the Louisville area, might be more likely to come to both meetings if they could be hosted overnight by some other good and faithful Presbyterians  who live inside the Louisville area and have a guest room and a “gift of hospitality” especially toward other Mid-Kentucky Presbyterians.

So:

1.       If you live in and around the Louisville area, and can host a Presbyterian minister and/or elder commissioner overnight on Friday, February 19, 2010, then please let us know right away!

2.       If  you live out a good ways from the Louisville area, and want to come to both the Friday, February 19 and the Saturday, February 20 meetings, and you would prefer to stay overnight in the Louisville area (and not to drive back home) and would like to be hosted for the evening hours on that Friday night, February 19, then please let us know right away!

We will do our best to match up those willing and able to host, and those who would like to be hosted that Friday evening.

Just think – this could be a very fun way to get to know some sister and brothers Presbyterians within our Presbytery. You can

·         tell funny stories about  other Presbyterians,

·         have a little wine (just a little),

·         tell a bed time story,

·         get a good rest,

·         and share breakfast together in the morning.

If # 1 or # 2  works for you, please let us know ASAP – like right now, by email.

Please respond right away to

office@midkentuckypresbytery.org  and to ken@beulahpresbyterian.com

Thank you so much. Ken H
